Ballard Kitchen & Dining Room Remodel - Home Birth Year 1930

A 100 square foot kitchen became a cooking paradise by relocating the stairwell basement entry from the kitchen and removing a built-in ironing board allowing for full space redesign. Opens arches to the kitchen mimic other arches original to the home. This is a perfect example of vintage fresh design for maximum work and conversational flow. All photos by John Gussman.

Restored integrity, with a twist of vibrancy, surprise and boldness, wias the foremost plea for this 1907 West Seattle kitchen and bathroom remodel. One look at the existing space took your breath away. Halloween? The adjacent bathroom was designed to compliment the same spirit of the new kitchen giving both spaces glowing smiles that would radiate sunshine even on the most cloudy of days. Wallingford Craftsman Kitchen Remodel - Home Birth Year 1924

This smaller kitchen needed everything from moving a stairway entry from the kitchen to adding eating and general hangout seating as there was no where for this family of five to eat together without being on top of each other.  On top of this, the kitchen was dated and not in a good way with limited countertop and storage space as well as poor lighting.  The small bathroom needed to be a three kids bathroom so every inch had to be considered. The result is spectacular. The Kitchen Witch just loves these kinds of projects. All photos by John Gussman.

West Seattle Italian Kitchen - Home Birth Year 1928

When called to work my magic on this 1928 West Seattle home I arrived to plaster torn from walls, studs, and vintage, dangling wiring. What is now the kitchen and feasting area was four small separate rooms one of which was the original kitchen space. I was enchanted by the cottage appeal ready to appear. The goal was to change the lower floor to accommodate a serious cook and large family living in the 21st century while at the same time restoring some lost vintage appeal. We chose to make this space livable, exciting, cozy and safe, and most importantly, a special place where imagination has power and a story continues to unfold. The kitchen, a direct and open eyesore upon entering the home, needed to be closed off from immediate viewing access and designed with sensitivity in keeping with the same eclectic beauty and Tutor elements which are the very bones of this home.
